Rafeena Enterprises
Telangana state is home for more than 40,000 transgender individuals but due to various social taboos and primitive outlook their lives and living standards have always suffered a blow. Shaik Rafeena, a well-educated transgender, has taken the matter of the community’s empowerment in her own hands by establishing Rafeena Enterprises with co-founder Mahesh Burranolla.
Intend: Rafeena Enterprises is an attempt to provide better livelihood options to other transgender people to make their socio-economic status better and empowered. For this, they have designed various capacity building and skill development training courses.
Idea: Rafeena Enterprises provides capacity building and skill development training in Indian authentic crafts such as Banjara Embrodery, Cluster Zardozi Embrodery, Printing, and Handlooms to transgender individuals. The transgender individuals can give up menial jobs like begging, and start making ethnic and casual wear for women through these handicrafted clusters. The products shall be marketed as “Transgender Made” and create creative job opportunities.
